OSRAM is a multinational lighting manufacturer mostly known for producing ordinary lightbulbs. When the company shifted their concentration onto the development of LED technology, they planned a range of user-facing products to communicate this progressive move to potential end customers.
Our task was to create a series of innovative and recognisable flashlights - each housing a unique optical concept and powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery. The implementation of this, at that point new, power source allowed us to create playful yet unconventional shapes which set the portfolio apart from the ordinary tube-shaped products built around Alkaline batteries. A metallic frame gives each product a premium touch while a rubberised finish provides a comfortable haptic touchpoint. This project was done during our time working with Nerd Communications.
