Mimikri 2012

This Floor lamp is inspired by the delicate beauty of the praying mantis. Our aim was to take the iconic shape of the creature’s body and to nudge it towards complete abstraction, stripping it down to it’s most basic form and reducing it to an assembly of connected lines that make up the design of the standing lamp.

Craftingit

Our minimalistic approach allows for easy manufacturing. The body consists of just one bent metal tube with two welded “legs”. The back of the rump is filled with sand, helping to ground the lamp and ensure stability. It is powder coated with a dimmable led panel, allowing the user to decide between functional, cool, white light for reading, and warm, ambient light for a more cozy mood.
